Freelance journalist, I am writing for UK outlets as well as the authoritative Car Graphic magazine in Japan.
In recent past, in the UK, I have written for Businesscarmanager.co.uk, International Fleet World, Autocar and the Daily Telegraph.
Motoring Media Career:
- Classic & Sportscar magazine in 1982, then two years later, I moved to What Car?
- In 1988, I took the bold decision to move to Tokyo, Japan, where I began a new career reporting full time on Japan – its new fascinating new car industry, classics and absorbing car culture.
- While in Tokyo, I contributed new car features and drives regularly to outlets in the UK (CAR, Autocar etc), Germany (Auto Motor und Sport), Australia (Wheels), Spain (Autopista), Italy (AM, Auto, InterAuto), Holland (AutoSelekt, Autovisie), Switzerland (Automobile Year) and the US (Edmunds.com, Automobile, AutoWeek). And others…
- While in Japan, I had two spells as a jury member for Japan Car of the Year (JCOTY). I was privileged to be asked to contribute to Car Graphic, Japan’s premier motoring monthly magazine, (writing for the magazine from 1989 to date).
Formula One (the British Grand Prix at Silverstone); classics – I am the enthusiastic long term owner of a 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV coupe (since 1982, so 33 years now, and counting) and new cars – testing some extraordinarily competitive new budget superminis from GM (as an example), just some of what’s been occupying me of late.
With its clear focus and message, AutoBest brings something new and appealing to the car awards table. Delighted to become a member of the jury at this key point in time as AutoBest expands in influence across Europe.
