AUTOBEST European Jury voted the Best Buy Car of Europe Finalists for 2021 competition15 / 10 / 2020

The new Citroen C4, Dacia Sandero, Honda Jazz, Peugeot 2008, Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Yaris are the finalists for the AUTOBEST 2021 award. These cars will compete for the prize of ‘Best Buy Car of Europe in 2021‘. The Jury of 31 members from 31 countries, will make their final assessments and cast their votes in the upcoming weeks, with the winner announced mid-December.

In Europe and around the world we are living in exceptional times, facing one of the biggest public health crises of this century. We see how much it has affected the car industry in Europe. As motoring media, we are also very badly affected, and we see so many people facing extreme difficulties. But despite all this, we decided to remain faithful to our tradition and to announce the finalists as we did every year in the last 20 years. The record number of seven is a direct result of the great news coming from the industry, brilliant new models deserving the presence in the Final,” said Dan Vardie, Founder & Chairman of AUTOBEST.

AUTOBEST is releasing the logo of ‘European AUTOBEST 2021 Finalist’. The seven manufacturers are entitled to use the logo in all of their communication and marketing campaigns in the lead-up to the announcement of the AUTOBEST 2021 winner.

On November 4th & 5th, the European AUTOBEST Jury will go to Teesdorf, Austria for the Final Test. “The Fahrtechnik proving grounds by Austrian Automobile Club (OEAMTC) gained international recognition for vehicle testing as well as driver education in many areas. As the centre in Teesdorf is close to Vienna Airport, Autobest is delighted having established a cooperation with OEAMTC to stage its Final Test in this perfect environment,” stated dr Gerhard Kuntschik, Vice-President of the AUTOBEST Jury.

At AUTOBEST, we are closely following the situation of the pandemic. For us, the health of our Jury members and guests from the industry is essential. Therefore, the sanitary conditions during the Final Test are very strict and in perfect accordance with the local and national authorities in Austria. We are very confident that our Final Test will be successful, following our traditional program with testing on public roads and detailed specific tests on the proving ground. We will also hold our famous Press Conference with the representatives of the manufacturers in the Final, and top executives contributing and appearing online,” stated Ilia Seliktar, Co-Founder and President of the AUTOBEST Jur

We have the full support of our Jury members. All the manufacturers having a car in the Final reacted very positively about participating in the ‘Best Buy Car of Europe in 2021’ competition. This is a common response of the car industry and motoring media, a sign of resilience in front of COVID-19. This is also an emblem of respect to our customers, readers and viewers who are suffering during this pandemic. The need for motoring and new models having the latest technologies are just as important as it was always. At AUTOBEST, we will do our job, as we did in the last two decades,” added Dan Vardie.

AUTOBEST Jury members represent 31 European countries, making it the largest Independent Motoring Jury in the world by the number of represented countries. AUTOBEST Jury pays close attention to the efforts the automotive industry is making. Investments, new automotive job opportunities for people, funds for green cars and technologies, the support for different regions of Europe are all carefully checked and appreciated by the Jury. New in-car technologies and connectivity are also under the scrutiny of the Jury. In total, we dedicate eight awards to these achievements in the following categories; MANBEST, COMPANYBEST, ECOBEST, DESIGNBEST, TECHNOBEST, SAFETYBEST, SMARTBEST and SPORTBEST. In the coming weeks, AUTOBEST will communicate the winners of these awards.

The 20th awards ceremony will take place next year at a date and location to chosen later on pending on the various sanitary conditions in different countries of Europe. This year edition of AUTOBEST Awards Gala was in Mainz, Germany, on February 13th bringing together a record number of top executives from various companies and organisations.

The AUTOBEST Awards Gala has evolved in the last 20 years from a distinguished dinner in a five-star location to a European Gala with world-class artistic content, gourmet menu and a unique Grand Finale for the AUTOBEST Award. More info on www.autobest.org
