Tofaş workers received their Award at Bursa Plant where Fiat Egea/Tipo is been manufactured

Dan Vardie, the Chairman of AUTOBEST, paid an exclusive visit to Tofaş plant in Bursa, to give the AUTOBEST 2016 Award, where Fiat Egea/Tipo, the winner, is been made in,  with an investment worth US$520 million. Fiat Egea/Tipo was voted as the “The Best Buy Car of Europe in 2016” at the end of last year. During Dan Vardie’s visit to Tofaş plant where he met with the employees, Tofaş CEO Cengiz Eroldu delivered a speech indicating that this award was given by considering many criterias including design, comfort, operating costs etc. Eroldu mentioned that he believed that behind this success the commitment of the employees to the project was playing a big role. At the same ceremony, “Your hard work, dedication and involvement, made you reached an industrial output placing your plant on most relevant place in the Turkish Automotive industry” said Dan Vardie, to the employees.

Manufactured in Tofaş Bursa plant and exported to the world, Fiat Egea/Tipo received its first international award from AUTOBEST. The Chairman of the AUTOBEST Jury, Dan Vardie, visited Tofaş Plant in Bursa accordingly. The Fiat Egea/Tipo, has been voted as “The Best Buy Car of 2016”.

In the ceremony, Tofaş CEO Cengiz Eroldu delivered a speech stating that this award didn’t come easily: “The jury members took into consideration different parameters, including design, comfort, running cost-effectiveness, driveability, price, service network, spare parts distribution, versatility and buy-back value. Egea has met all of these criteria. Additionally all jury members who visited our plant have told me that they may find the same technology and machinery that we use in every plant but meet with such committed and loyal employees. I believe your contribution affected them deeply. And played a major role in winning the award. Therefore, I would like to thank all of our employees.

Tofaş CEO Eroldu continued, “Tofaş is now manufacturing the best car in Europe and that is no coincidence. We have been working hard and foreseeing this success. We have been investigating on R&D since the 90’s. Now we are reaping the fruits of our investments.

Cengiz Eroldu continued: “Every day, we break our own records and gradually increasing our capacity. We aim to manufacture 390k units this year. We work very hard, we get tired but having been named as the winner  with Fiat Egea constantly gives us the strength to challenge ourselves to strive for better.

The Founder and the Chairman of AUTOBEST, Dan Vardie also delivered a speech during the ceremony and said, “The new Egea/Tipo family was built around the strategy `a great car for a budget` and not a `budget car`. The result is an outstanding product, with all the ingredients needed by an average customer of Europe. Design, engines, perceived quality, comfort, versatility. Egea/Tipo is the new expression of the functional side of Fiat brand. And the new proposition of `value for money` concept.”

To Tofaş employees, Dan Vardie said, “It is coming as result of the efforts to elevate everything to the highest European level, competing to any of the established industrial countries including Germany, Italy, UK, France! We would like to celebrate Turkey and Tofaş because they manufacture the ‘Best Buy Car of Europe.’ TOFAS is the only one plant in Europe can claim this unique award now. You can all be proud for delivering this outstanding result.”
