Motoring journalists from 9 emerging countries of Europe established “AUTOBEST” award for passenger’s cars.
Five other new awards will prize the efforts of automotive industry, media and motorsport in the region
(February 28-th, 2001)

Journalists from nine emerging countries of Europe established “AUTOBEST among emerging countries” association in order to award the achievement of automotive industry in the region. “AUTOBEST of 2002” will the very first prize to be released end of November this year.

The “AUTOBEST” award is designed for the emerging countries of Europe, ranking the most suitable passenger cars for the needs of the population in the region. The jury will focus on the sensitive issues like price, service and spare parts availability and distribution network. The performance, handling, technical devices, new technologies are coming second in the jury members attention. It might be an excellent new product full of new technologies but far to expensive for the most of the customers in this region. “AUTOBEST” may be seen as a guide for a big number of people looking to buy an affordable but still modern car.

Five other awards will prize the efforts of automotive industry, media and motorsport among the emerging markets:

“COMPANYBEST” – award for the industrial efforts of the automotive industry among the emerging markets of Europe.

“MANBEST” – award for the top executives setting as a strategic priority this region.

“ECOBEST” – award is designed to applause the efforts to protect the environment of the region in any imaginable way by the automotive operators among the emerging markets.

“SPORTSBEST” – award, which the association is intending to give to any personality or company with outstanding results in motorsport, reached for the countries in the region of the emerging markets.

“MEDIABEST” – award for the best motoring journalists or media channel with contributions for the development of motoring press among the emerging markets.

At the moment of the establishing of the association, 9 countries are represented by one motoring journalist: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Macedonia former Republic of Yugoslavia, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey,Yugoslavia. The association is open for journalists from all the countries in the European region defined as Emerging Markets.

The first festivity will take place in Bucharest, Romania in the second part of November 2001. The future festivities will be placed in other countries represented in the jury.

Dan Vardie, motoring journalist of Romania was elected the Chairman of the AUTOBEST association and Jury. Davor Kindy from Croatia is AUTOBEST secretary and Ilya Seliktar from Bulgaria is the treasurer.
