The 22nd edition of the AUTOBEST Gala Awards is set to take place on May 11th in Rotterdam, the Netherlands27 / 03 / 2023

The 22nd edition of the AUTOBEST Gala Awards is set to take place on May 11th in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The AUTOBEST awards are highly regarded as the most important European accolades – the Oscars of the automotive industry.

Following the tradition of choosing ground-breaking locations for the AUTOBEST Gala Awards, this year’s most important automotive event will be organised in the heart of Rotterdam, in a prestigious historical location. The Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk has been built between 1449 and 1525 as the city’s first all stone building. Nowadays it’s the only remnant of the medieval city of Rotterdam. This is the first time when the AUTOBEST Gala Awards is organised in a cathedral, with AUTOBEST exploring thus a new architectonic expression. Evidence of endurance and stability, the location chosen for the Oscars of the car industry aligns with AUTOBEST’s values and mission, as reliable central core voice of the European consumer for the automotive field.

The Netherlands is home to around 5,300 car companies which are generating a combined annual revenue of over 50 billion euros. Electric vehicles have become a great success in the Netherlands, the nation being ranked second after Norway in Europe in terms of its market-share of newly registered passenger electric vehicles in 2019.

Dan Vardie, Founder and Chairman of AUTOBEST said:

`Following our traditions, AUTOBEST is going every year a in a new country from its own territory of no less than 32 European nations represented. We are very happy to be the first time in the Nederlands having some incredible surprises for our VIP guests. The event location in Rotterdam is a landmark of the city and the country. It is a first for us and the show of the Gala will become another milestone in our history! A totally new approach of our decade old Gala, the most important event of independent motoring media in Europe and the world! `

About AUTOBEST

The AUTOBEST organisation was created in 2001 with the revolutionary concept of finding the ‘Best Buy Car’ available on the European market. AUTOBEST is the biggest independent motoring Jury in Europe, with top journalists representing 32 countries, of which Russia is suspended for the time being.

For a car to become an AUTOBEST winner, it must represent the best offer for most European customers. Price, service network, spare parts distribution and versatility are the most important criteria in the voting process. Design and new technologies are also becoming a more critical factor for voting. AUTOBEST uses a transparent voting system, with a complex matrix of 13 criteria to decide the winner.
