AUTOBEST is launching “Miss A & Mr B” animated characters03 / 02 / 2020

This is a first in the AUTOBEST history and also a world premiere for motoring media

With the occasion of AUTOBEST Awards Gala in Mainz, Germany, on 13th February 2020, the AUTOBEST organisation is pleased to introduce the Miss A & Mr B cartoon characters. Mr B, coming from ‘Mr AutoBest’, is a fictional male character who is a talented motoring writer, skilled driver and environmentally conscious person. Mr B is knowledgeable, with a comprehensive insight perspective of the car industry, following the megatrends of green, connected, autonomous and sharing. He is a humble European citizen, ready to understand the future of motoring and always eager to share his news and discoveries on the car industry and motoring in general.

Miss A, short for Miss Artificial Intelligence, is neither human nor a car, but a smartwatch with voice enhancement. It is the watch Mr B is wearing all the time, having a dialogue with and building an epic relationship. In designing Miss A, the young team of cartoon artists took their inspiration from the contemporary high end of watchmaking, which became the partner of Hollywood productions from James Bond and Omega to Iron Man and Urwerk.

Miss A and Mr B form an effective team, developing a great relationship in time. The story of their interaction will play out during the Gala as they introduce the regular 8 European awards- MANBEST, COMPANYBEST, SAFETYBEST, ECOBEST, SMARTBEST, DESIGNBEST, TECHNOBEST, SPORTBEST, the winning car of AUTOBEST – Best Buy Car of Europe in 2020 accolade and the new inductee in AUTOBEST Hall of Fame, the Oscar of all the Automotive Halls of Fame. The way they interact, Miss A and Mr B is unique and gives the audience the chance to discover an intriguing movie narrative, but a meaningful depicted reality of our industry.

“Launching Miss A and Mr B cartoon personages is representing an unprecedented step in the global motoring media. We are creating a new artistic universe giving us infinite artistically possibilities to come with a new form of communication in the motoring media. In the last century, cartoons became the most accepted and desired form of visual art by any generations. Anyone can identify with famous cartoons like Mikey Mouse, Donald the Duck, Michel Vaillant and many others. We are now starting to build a new saga of Miss A & Mr B who are guiding us in the future of motoring,” said Dan Vardie, AUTOBEST Founder & Chairman.

The first cartoon movie is available immediately on the www.autobest.org official site and AUTOBEST Facebook and YouTube channels. This movie is introducing this year location of the Gala Awards in advance of the event. During the Gala, Miss A and Mr B will be an important part of the show to artistically present the winners of each award. For every award, they will come with a story of the artists’ interpretation of the meaning of each award. These short cartoon movies will feature dialogues between Miss A and Mr B, revealing the complex relationship between the characters. Their interactions demonstrate a vision of the cooperation between humans and artificial intelligence. In a period when so many movies depict the dangers to humans from AI, our cartoon story is one of building trust, developing a relationship with humour, confidence and mutual appreciation. Although Miss A and Mr B are not a real couple, they might be considered a ‘couple’ of the future when AI and humans will work hand in hand, supporting one each other for being better in any respect. Our cartoons personages are a part of a future we all love and hope to experience.

All the cartoon movies will be available on our site after the Gala.

The European AUTOBEST Jury thanks the readers from all Europe for encouraging the project and the various PR departments responsible in the automotive industry for providing all the support in organising meetings and drive tests of the new products.

About AUTOBEST

The AUTOBEST organisation was established in 2001 with the revolutionary concept of “Best Buy Car” available on the European market. A total of 31 European nations is represented in the Jury, covering the vast majority- 95%- of the European population. At this scale, AUTOBEST is the largest independent motoring media in Europe. For a car to become an AUTOBEST winner, it must represent the best offering for most European customers. Price, service network, spare parts distribution and versatility are the most important criteria in the voting process. Design and new technologies are becoming important criteria for voting. AUTOBEST uses a transparent voting system, with a complex matrix of 13 criteria to decide the winner.
