Chevy Volt and Opel Ampera voted “ECOBEST of 2011”
Carl Peter Forster, Member of Tata Motors Board was elected “MANBEST 2011”

   The new Chevy Aveo, Fiat Panda, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra and  Toyota Yaris are the five finalists for Autobest 2012 competition. “We will have one of the most exciting competitions in the AUTOBEST history. All the 5 finalists are extremely strong in becoming the best buy car of Europe. The jury will have a final assessment in the first decade of December and will vote just on time for December 15-th to announce the winner.” Mr. Ilja Seliktar – AUTOBEST President, said.

   “MANBEST 2011” award is going to Carl Peter Forster, one of the most outstanding executives of the car industry, in present a Board member of Tata Motors. “Carl Peter is one of kind personality of the industry. His role in Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover was definitive. After many years, JLR company is making profits having incredibly great products. We strongly believe, Range Rover Evoque is just another milestone in a great new destiny for these two unique iconic British brands.” Ilia Seliktar stated.

This year’s ECOBEST award is going to Chevy Volt and Opel Ampera. These are the latest eco-technology on the planet. It is the first time after some decades when an American company – GM- developed a leading technology at a global level. “We at AUTOBEST are very proud to grant this prestigious award to these revolutionary GM models. This is the first European award for Volt/ Ampera from a series to come.” Autobest President declared.

“SAFETYBEST 2011” goes to Volkswagen for the new City Emergency Brake system introduced on the new up! It is a first in the safety. VW democratize a crucial system able to reduce if not to eliminate the crashes below 30km/h. Having such system on an A segment car is signalizing the beginning of  new era in the safety. And here VW did the job for the benefit of many millions of future customers.

   “TECHNOBEST 2011” is going to Ford Ecoboost family engines. Using next-generation gasoline technology, Ford is taking the concept of downsizing to the next level of green technologies. Even more, the new green champion, the small 3 cylinder 1.0 l Ecoboost is going to be produced in the Autobest region, in the new Ford megaplant from Craiova, Romania.  

   Gerry McGovern, Chief designer of Land Rover was voted “DESIGNBEST 2011”. His work gave Land Rover an international appeal for a brand who become synonymous with 4 x 4. The latest Evoque is simply one of the most beautiful SUV on the planet. The recently released concepts showing how the future Defender will look like, is another proof of Gerry’s artistic talent.

Autobest jury voted Czech racing driver Jan Kopecký to become “SPORTBEST 2011”. Kopecy is leading Intercontinental Rally Challenge at this edition.

The AUTOBEST Jury is also paying attention to the efforts that automotive industry is making. Investments, new work opportunities for the population, spending funds for ecological initiatives, the support for the emerging regions of Europe are carefully checked and appreciated by the Jury.

For this year, AUTOBEST members of the Jury are coming from 15 countries in the region and represent a virtual market with more than 300 million people. Each member of the Jury is an outstanding motoring journalist, a respected voice in his country. AUTOBEST is the second largest independent motoring Jury of Europe.
