Patrick Peter is “SPORTBEST 2015”28 / 01 / 2016

Patrick Peter honored for outstanding activities dedicated to the world of motorsport and vintage cars.

A jury of 26 motoring writers, representing 26 European countries, has voted Patrick Peter as winner of the “SPORTBEST 2015” award for his outstanding activities dedicated to the world of motorsport and vintage cars.  “Mr. Peter, through his company Peter Auto, brilliantly organises 8 to 10 classic car events every year in all Europe and beyond. Mr. Peter is one of the best organisers we have nowadays in the motoring world. The way he established Le Mans Classic is outstanding and deserves our appreciation symbolised by the European SPORTBEST award”, stated Dan Vardie, AUTOBEST Founder and Chairman.

Since the 1980s, Peter Auto has developed an international reputation both in the Classic and Modern cars field, becoming a key leader in that area. For more than thirty years, Patrick Peter created many events for modern and classic cars in France and abroad, including, in 1994, the first international race in Mainland China held in Zhuhai. The most successful events are the Tour Auto, Le Mans Classic and Le Mans Series, which after eight years turned into the World Endurance Championship. In 2014, Patrick Peter, whose first passion is to create and set up new high-end events, embarked on a different challenge with Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille, creating a new style of Concours.

The 15th AUTOBEST Awards Gala will be held on February 11th, 2016, in Milan, Italy, in Teatro Vetra, the legendary theater of Gianni Versace. Highly regarded as the most important annual independent automotive event in Europe, the Gala is held in a different city each year. This means that every European country represented in the Jury has the opportunity to host the AUTOBEST Awards Gala once in every 26 years. The “SPORTBEST 2015” Award will be handled to Mr. Peter during the Gala in Milan.

Each year the AUTOBEST Awards Gala brings together the top executives of various companies. The AUTOBEST Awards Gala has evolved over 15 years to become a European Gala with world-class artistic content, a gourmet menu and a unique Grand Finale for the AUTOBEST Award. Customers from around Europe can get in contact with the lottery organised by AUTOBEST, which allows their participation at the Gala.

About AUTOBEST

The AUTOBEST organisation was created in 2001 with the revolutionary concept of “best buy car” available on the European market. To become an AUTOBEST award winner, a car must represent the best offer for most European customers. Price, service network, spare parts distribution and versatility are the most important criteria in the voting process. Design and new technologies are also important criteria for voting. AUTOBEST uses a transparent voting system, with a complex matrix of 13 criteria in order to decide the winner.

The AUTOBEST Jury also pays attention to the efforts the automotive industry is making. Investments, new automotive job opportunities for people, spending funds for green cars and technologies and the support available for each European region are carefully checked and appreciated by the Jury. New in-car technologies and connectivity are also under the scrutiny of the Jury. In total, eight awards are dedicated to the aforementioned achievements: MANBEST, COMPANYBEST, ECOBEST, DESIGNBEST, TECHNOBEST, SAFETYBEST, and SMARTBEST. All these awards – including the European motoring accolade `AUTOBEST 2016`, awarded to the Fiat Tipo/ AEGEA – were released on December 15th, 2015. To view them, please visit www.autobest.org.
